He who promised is faithful.
—Hebrews 10:23
Have you ever been the victim of a broken promise by a company, a salesperson, or an individual?
In America, there is a divorce every thirty-six seconds; 2,400 per day. That’s a lot of broken “until death do us part” promises.
When God makes a promise, he keeps it. “God wanted to prove that his promise was true,” so he sealed it with an oath (Heb 6:17). The Hebrew writer goes on to say, “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful” (Heb 10:23).
When you’re up against your worst nightmare, you have to choose between abandoning your faith in God’s promises or relying on them; between believing that he has let you down or that he will lift you up; between walking with him or walking away from him.
Trust that God is up to something good,
even when what you’re going through seems bad.
