If you believe, you will receive
whatever you ask for in prayer.
—Matthew 21:22
“If anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart but believes . . . it will be done” (Mk 11:23).
This baffling sentence wasn’t as mystifying to the early disciples as it is to us, for it was a commonly used rabbinical metaphor for dealing with difficulties.
Nothing that is in harmony with God’s will is impossible for a person of faith—“God’s will” being the operative words. “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us” (1 Jn 5:14).
Mountain-size problems are manageable when we are aligned with God’s will, not when we attempt to get God aligned with ours.
Habits and hatreds, sins and sensitivities can be cast into the sea, so to speak.

Mountains of problems are
dissolved by moments of prayer.
