Before I formed you in the womb I knew you,
before you were born I set you apart.
—Jeremiah 1:5
Are you being too hard on yourself? Or too easy?
“I’m worthless. I can’t do anything right.” That’s being too hard on yourself.
“I messed up. So what? Everybody makes mistakes.” That’s being too easy on yourself.
Hold yourself accountable. But remember who you are and whose you are. You are God’s child. You are unique. He doesn’t have another child like you.
Are you comparing yourself to others: measuring your abilities and achievements by their abilities and achievements?
When you do that, one of two things will happen. Both bad. You will either come off feeling superior or inferior. The first produces arrogance; the second anguish
Wanting to be someone other than who you are is a rejection of God’s workmanship and a waste of who God made you.
Measure your worth by what you can do,
not by what someone else can do.
