Send her away.
—Matthew 15:23
“Tell the woman to go away,” they beseeched Jesus. She had come begging for help for her tormented daughter. She’s a Gentile; get her out of here!
“We saw a man driving out demons in your name and we tried to stop him, because he is not one of us” (Lk 9:49). He’s an outsider; not a bona fide member of our party.
His disciples told parents to stop bringing their young’uns to Jesus (Mk 10:13). He’s busy building a kingdom; he doesn’t have time to babysit your kids.
“Jesus, . . . have mercy on me!” shouted the blind man. Jesus’ disciples “rebuked him and told him to be quiet” (Mk. 10:47-48). Your shouting is rude; shut up!
It’s the peak of pomposity
to exclude those the Lord includes.
