Don’t you remember?
—Mark 8:18
Thirteen hungry men and one loaf of bread! That’s all they had—and they thought Jesus was on their case.
He was. Not because they had short rations, but because they had short memories. They had recently witnessed his two miraculous feedings of multitudes. “Don’t you remember?” he asked. He chided them for having eyes that didn’t see; ears that didn’t hear.
Some of us seem to remember only the negative experiences: loss, failure, sadness, hopelessness. We dwell on them, wallow in them, live in fear of repeating them.
Make an effort today to remember the positive experiences: gain, success, joy, contentment. Open your eyes and ears to the positives.
Defeat is temporary. Giving up
is what makes it permanent.
