Forgetting what is behind and
straining toward what is ahead.
—Philippians 3:13
I’ve been in this apartment fourteen years. It’s time for a change. I’m moving.
If you remember your last move, you know why I get chills thinking about it. What to keep? What to toss? Most of my stuff is old, so I’m going to upgrade a few things.
That got me thinking. I need some new furnishings and fixtures that have nothing to do with paint, wood, and fabric.
I need a makeover on compassion and courage, patience and persistence, gentleness and joy.
And I’ve accumulated some junk I need to haul to the dumpster: fear and faultfinding, complaining and criticism, ingratitude and intolerance.
I pray that God will make these changes in me—so that if you happen to drop by the old place you’ll find this note on the door: “He doesn’t live here anymore.”
That part of your life is over. Onward!
