Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say it again: Rejoice!
—Philippians 4:4
“How’s it going?”
“Not so hot! I’ve had better days. If it’s not one thing, it’s another.”
You’ve heard these down-in-the-dumps grumbles; maybe even growled them yourself.
English churchman and historian Thomas Fuller rightly described many when he said, “We are born crying, live complaining, and die disappointed.”
Satan has to love it when we grouse about God’s world and our place in it.
In Philippians 2:1 Paul asks, “Is there any encouragement from belonging to Christ? Any comfort from his love?” And as if to answer, he writes in the same letter, “Rejoice . . . Rejoice!” (4:4).
Celebrate, don’t bellyache! After all, you’re blood-bought and heaven-bound.
God help us not to become so focused on what’s wrong that we become blind to what’s right.
If God has done something for you
on the inside, it ought to show on the outside.
