There was no room for them in the inn.
—Luke 2:7
It’s special to be wanted and welcomed.
And painful to be unwanted and unwelcomed.
When Jesus was born, there wasn’t a room for him in Bethlehem.
And when he was nailed to the cross, the message was loud and clear: “We don’t have room for you in our world.”
Today the message is often the same: “There is no room for you here.”
But now and then someone throws the door wide open and invites him in. And to that person, Jesus reciprocates with a thrilling promise: “In my Father’s house are many rooms” (Jn 14:2).
What a delightful exchange—you make room for him in your heart, and he makes room for you in his house.
