Run with perseverance
the race marked out for us.
—Hebrews 12:1
It is one thing to start well; quite another to finish well.
The Christian life is more than being fast out of the blocks; it’s a marathon of growth and persistence …
Add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love (2 Pet. 1:5-7).
Peter promised that “if you do these things, you will never fall, and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Pet. 1:10-11).
No wonder the Hebrew writer urged us to “run with perseverance.” Don’t drop out before the end of the race.
Keep an eye on the finish line.
