Give thanks to the Lord, for he is good.
—Psalm 106:2
Every meal, every night’s sleep, every possession, every pleasure, every moment is a gift of God’s goodness.
And the greatest gift of his goodness is Calvary: “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him” (Jn. 3:17).
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love … he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities” (Ps. 103: 8, 10).
God gifts us with his goodness when much in our life is unworthy of it.
Today refuse to take for granted his goodness. Rather ask, “How can I repay the Lord for all his goodness to me?” (Ps. 116:12).
We recognize God’s goodness only when we
recognize how unworthy of it we are.
