There are different kinds of gifts.
—1 Corinthians 12:4
In Rom. 12:6 Paul says, “We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us.”
He names some of these gifts, and with each appends a pithy punch line about what to do with it …
If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy;
If your gift is serving, then serve;
If your gift is teaching, then teach;
If your gift is encouraging, then encourage;
If your gift is giving, then give;
If your gift is leading, then lead;
If your gift is showing mercy, then show mercy.
You have a unique gift, for “Christ has given each of us special abilities—whatever he wants us to have out of his rich storehouse of gifts” (Eph. 4:7 TLB).
Whether or not you use that gift is quite another matter.
There is no greater waste than unused gifts.
