The Lord your God goes with you.
—Deuteronomy 31:6
What on earth was God thinking when he chose Moses? His early performance was less than stellar. When God tapped him on the shoulder to get Israel out of Egypt, he was a fugitive, wanted for murder; and he was a shepherd, not a five-star general.
But you know the story: he got them out of Egypt and led them for 40 years.
In his retirement speech, when he stood down and relinquished command to Joshua, he gave him the distilled version of what he had learned in those 40 years: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid … for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”
God chose Moses.
God chose you.
He will be with you the full distance.
It’s not how you start out
but how you end up that counts.
