Jesus stopped and ordered
the man to be brought to him.
—Luke 18:40
He was blind; a beggar. Informed that Jesus was nearby, he shouted, “Jesus … have mercy on me!”
The disciples told him to put a sock in it; but Jesus stopped, ordered them to bring the man to him, and opened his eyes.
One day Jesus saw the pickle you were in, stopped in his tracks, came to your neighborhood to deliver you from the mess, then went back to heaven.
He still stops when you call: “Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver you” (Ps. 50:15). Every day he listens for your voice and stops to help when you call. At this very moment he is interceding for you (Rom. 8:34).
One of these days he is going to make one last stop—this time to pick you up and take you home (Jn. 14:3).
