After he had provided purification for sins,
he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
—Hebrews 1:3
“Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God” (Heb. 10:11-12).
The Tabernacle had no chairs, because the Aaronic priests never sat.
They never sat because their work was never finished.
Their work was never finished because their sacrifices had to be constantly repeated.
Their sacrifices had to be constantly repeated because animal sacrifices could never permanently take away sins.
Jesus changed all that.
He offered one sacrifice.
One time.
And sat down at God’s right hand—the seated priest signaled an accepted sacrifice and a finished work.
Nothing more was needed.
Ever.
Once was enough.
