Cast your burden on the Lord,
And He shall sustain you.
—Psalm 55:22
“There are some burdens we must bear alone,” goes the saying.
It sure seems that way sometimes, doesn’t it? But at the deepest and most encouraging level, it isn’t true.
The New International Version has Psalm 68:19 this way: “Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens.”
The English Standard Version puts it like this: “Blessed be the Lord, who daily bears us up.”
The New King James Version says: “Blessed be the Lord Who daily loads us with benefits.”
Which translation is best? Here’s a suggestion: Claim all of them in a single sentence—Praise the Lord who daily bears our burdens, bears us up, and loads us with benefits.
Let God do the heavy lifting.
