What is impossible with men is possible with God.
—Luke 18:27
Over seventy years ago, J.B. Phillips wrote a book titled Your God Is Too Small. In it, he sketched common conceptions (or misconceptions) of God, one of which was that God is distant and disinterested, unfeeling and unreachable.
We don’t expect much from a God like that.
But we expect a lot from the God Paul pictures—one who is able to do more than all we ask or imagine (Eph 3:20).
When I was a child, I thought my father could do anything. He couldn’t. But my Father can.
My father had limitations. But my Father doesn’t.
Expect a lot from your Father, for however much you expect, he is capable of much more.
Humans do the amazing.
God does the impossible.
