The Spirit helps us in our weakness.
—Romans 8:26
All the Frey children had assigned chores on the family’s farm. Bill’s was to grub out the stumps of pine trees where the land had been cleared for planting.
One day, his dad watched from a distance as Bill struggled with a stubborn one. Finally, he approached and said, “Bill, your problem is that you’re not using all your strength.”
“Yes, I am!”
“No, you’re not. You haven’t asked me to help.”
In Romans 8, we’re told that the Spirit helps us in our weakness by interceding for us (v. 26) and that Jesus is in heaven interceding for us (v. 34).
Powerful resources! How foolish of us not to request them and rely on them.
We’re not using all our strength
until we request Divine assistance.
