When the Lord saw her,
his heart went out to her.
—Luke 7:13
Jesus saw people: their circumstances, their hurts, their needs.
He saw a harshly judged adulterous woman, chased away her accusers, and said, “Go now and leave your life of sin” (Jn 8:3–11).
He saw a woman who had endured twelve years of illness and isolation, observed her action, and said, “Your faith has healed you. Go in peace” (Lk 8:43–48)
He saw a sinful woman anoint his feet with perfume and tears and said, “Your sins are forgiven” (Lk 7:32–48).
He saw a poor widow putting her less-than-a-penny in the temple treasury and said, “[She] has put in more than all the others” (Lk 21:1–4).
Jesus always saw people. Whatever their condition, whatever their need.
He still does. He’s looking at you, loving you.
You are never out of Jesus’ sight,
and always the object of his concern.
