Dealing With Disappointment

Then their eyes were opened
and they recognized him.
          —Luke 24:31

Two disappointed disciples left Jerusalem and headed home. Their leader was dead. Game over.

As they walked, Jesus joined them. But they didn’t recognize him.

Disappointment can do that to you. It can blind you to the presence of God and produce depression and cynicism.

Those disciples were good men, but they had wrong expectations. Jesus hadn’t done what they wanted and expected him to do.

Is that where you are? Hurt? Disappointed? God hasn’t met your expectations; hasn’t done what you want him to do?

The Savior those disciples thought was dead was walking with them. He entered their house and sat at their table. And something happened: “Their eyes were opened, and they recognized him.”

He’s closer than you think, with blessings that will exceed your fondest expectations.

Stay alert with strong faith.
Jesus is closer than you think.
