Procrastination

Now is the day of salvation.
      —2 Corinthians 6:2

Sam Levenson said, ‘I’m going to stop putting things off, starting tomorrow.” We procrastinators are fans of tomorrow.

A lot of things that need to be done, like getting the oil changed, painting the bedroom, or mowing the lawn, can be postponed for a while without creating the havoc of a train wreck. If you get your ticket punched before those things get done, it won’t be a history-altering catastrophe.

But procrastination ranges all the way from “no-damage-done” to “irreparable-damage-done.”

Procrastination has “Eternity-Involved” written across some things. Hebrews 9:27 warns that we are destined to die once and, after that, to face judgment. There are no tomorrows or do-overs once life ends.

“Too Late” is a tragic epitaph.
