The Lord is merciful and gracious,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
—Psalm 103:8
The world puts the rich, charismatic, articulate, and connected on a pedestal. But Jesus seemed partial to the marginalized, outcasts, and nobodies.
See him reaching out to touch a leper. See him asking for a drink from the water jug of a many-times divorced woman. See him with his arm around the shoulder of a hated tax man.
I’m guessing that your evaluation of yourself is not complimentary. Stop groveling about your worthlessness. Instead, consider what God thinks of you. He knows you from beginning to end, from your first gurgle to your final breath. You are special and precious to him.
No matter how long you’ve waited and how much time you’ve wasted, you are special to him, and he has a special place for you.
You are special in God’s view.
