Pocket Maxims (1 of 5)

Blessed are those who find wisdom.
                   —Proverbs 3:13

Based on things I’ve read, advice I’ve received, and personal experience, I’ve cataloged more than a thousand aphorisms through the years. May I share some of them with you this week? Maybe you’ll find one to put in your pocket.

  • Make a little progress every day.
  • Learn to say “No.”
  • Don’t compare yourself to others.
  • Get up when you fall.
  • Do a kindness every day.
  • If you want to feel good and be good, do good.
  • Stop looking for shortcuts. Do the work.
  • Don’t compete. Do your thing and let others do theirs.
  • Be strict with yourself and lenient with others.
  • If you’ve been blessed, be a blessing.
  • Don’t wait until later—do it now.
  • Undersell and overdeliver.
  • Give others the benefit of the doubt.

Mastery of self is a greater strength
than mastery of others.
