Don’t you remember?
—Matthew 16:9
“My life has been full of terrible misfortunes, most of which never happened,” wrote French philosopher Montaigne.
Is your happiness being sabotaged by anxiety over things that may never happen?
Jesus’ disciples had taken a hike without packing a lunch. Now, they were grumbling because their stomachs were growling.
“Don’t you remember?” Jesus asked them. Just a few hours back, he had fed a crowd of thousands. Throwing together a snack for a dozen would be a snap.
A good memory eliminates a lot of hand-wringing.
Don’t you remember? Take a backward glance at blessings received.
Rather than making this a day of fear about what may happen, make it a day of praise for what has happened.
The fearful hear a noise in every bush.
