God Uses the Forgiven

Blessed are those whose
transgressions are forgiven.
           —Romans 4:7

There’s something in your past that you’re ashamed of, isn’t there? Does it disqualify you for kingdom service?

  • David committed adultery and murder, but God chose him to be Israel’s king and said he was a man after his own heart.
  • Saul was a violent persecutor of the church, but God chose him to be the church’s most influential evangelist.

Are you disqualified because of previous sin? No, not if you’ve confessed it and repented.

When the prophet Nathan scorched David for his immorality, David said, “I have sinned.” And Nathan immediately said, “The Lord has taken away your sin” (2 Sam 12:1–13). When you repent and confess your sin, God forgives before you finish the sentence. You can’t forget it, but God can—and does (Heb 8:12).

God doesn’t just call the equipped,
he equips the called.
