He will wipe every tear from their eyes.
—Revelation 21:4
To the grieving widow, the chaplain said, “If they ran a culture on your tears, they would probably discover anger, fear, grief, and loss.”
I imagine that describes the tears of the parents of their ten-year-old daughter when a convicted sex offender led police to her buried body. And of the Fort Worth widow when told that her policeman husband had been run over and killed by a repeatedly convicted drunk driver.
I’m viewing a montage of weeping people in Ukraine, Israel, and Pakistan who have lost loved ones and all their possessions. It occurs to me that we all cry in the same language.
No wonder we are so attached to John’s description of heaven: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain” (Rv 21:4).
A time is coming when you
will weep no more.
