In the same way you judge others,
you will be judged.
—Matthew 7:2
On boarding the cruise ship, the traveler was given the location of his cabin and the name of his cabin mate.
After checking out both, he went to the purser’s quarters and asked if he could leave his watch and other valuables in the ship’s safe; said he had met the man who was to share his cabin and was afraid he might not be trustworthy.
“I’ll be happy to take care of your things for you,” the purser assured him. “Your cabin mate was just here and left his for the same reason.”
“In the same way you judge others, you will be judged,” Jesus said. You don’t have to wait for the final judgment to get harpooned by that.
While you are silently judging others, they are silently
doing the same to you. Both assumptions are probably wrong.
