God so loved the world
that he gave his one and only Son.
—John 3:16
The measure of love is how much it gives.
Paul contends that God’s supreme love gift of his Son is the guarantee of all other gifts: “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” (Rom 8:32).
Thomas Brooks wrote that it is as if God said, “You shall have an interest in all my attributes for your good. . . . My grace shall be yours to pardon you, and my power shall be yours to protect you, and my wisdom shall be yours to direct you, and my goodness shall be yours to relieve you, and my mercy shall be yours to supply you, and my glory shall be yours to crown you.”
One thing you can never change
is how much God loves you.
