We fix our eyes not on what is seen,
but on what is unseen.
—2 Corinthians 4:18
“Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal” (2 Cor 4:16–18).
Things of this world—things that are seen—have their day and cease to be. Things of heaven—things that are unseen—last forever.
Obsession with visible things of the world is dropping anchor in unstable mud. Moses dropped anchor in solid soil: “he persevered because he saw him who is invisible” (Heb 11:27).
With the unseen eternal in view, every passing year brings us nearer to death but closer to heaven.
Seeing the unseen
is 20/20 spiritual vision.
