The old has passed away;
behold, the new has come.
—2 Corinthians 5:17
Endings also bring new beginnings.
The end of a year launches the beginning of a new one.
The end of a pregnancy brings the beginning of a new life outside the womb.
The end of an old life is the beginning of a new one: “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come” (2 Cor 5:17).
There will come a time when you have only thirty minutes left to live. Countdown: Twenty-nine. Twenty-eight. Twenty-seven. . . . Three. Two. One. Then this: “There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away. He who [sits] on the throne [says], ‘I am making everything new!’” (Rev 21:4–5).
A new beginning here
insures a new beginning there.
