Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift.
—2 Corinthians 9:15
The apostle Paul had a first-rate education and a top-notch vocabulary. But he couldn’t come up with an adequate word to describe God’s gift of Christ—he said the gift was “indescribable.”
God gave us the greatest gift of all, and the one we need most of all.
I received a Christmas card a few years ago with the following words.
If our greatest need had been information,
God would have sent us an educator.
If our greatest need had been technology,
God would have sent us a scientist.
If our greatest need had been money,
God would have sent us an economist.
If our greatest need had been pleasure,
God would have sent us an entertainer.
But our greatest need was forgiveness,
so God sent us a Savior.
You are the fortunate recipient
of an indescribable gift.
