There was no room for them in the inn.
—Luke 2:7
The trip from Nazareth to Bethlehem was arduous for pregnant Mary and anxious Joseph. When Joseph sought lodging in the inn, he was turned away.
The innkeeper has been given bad press as cruel and cold. The charge is unjustified. Bethlehem was filled with census officials, Roman soldiers, and hundreds responding to Caesar’s decree for citizen registration. The inn was full.
Many similarly fail to welcome Jesus, not because they have consciously rejected him but because their lives are overcrowded with other concerns. They have no room for him.
If you recognize such in your life, it’s a critical time. What will you do? Ignore the warning or reorder priorities?
There can be only one Number One.
