See what great love the Father has lavished on us.
—1 John 3:1
My mother’s love for me was set in stone. Unconditional. Those who know my dark side would say, “I don’t get it!” I say, “Get over it!”
Mother was in her nineties when I was on my way out her front door after a visit. She said, “Remember, I love you.” I laughed at her parting quip: “I don’t know why, but I do.”
It’s hard to understand why that father continued to love his prodigal son. But he did.
God knows everything about us. Everything! Things that parents don’t know, that spouses don’t know, that nobody knows. He knows our secret thoughts, our hidden sins—even our attempts to hide the ugly.
He sees all, knows all. And loves us anyway. Isn’t that something?!
God loves you. And there’s nothing
you can do to change that.
