I am going there to prepare a place for you.
—John 14:2
Sarah and her husband were preparing to move her elderly mother to live with them, but they knew it would be a difficult transition for her. Wanting to ease the pain as much as possible, they transformed a room in their house into an exact likeness of her bedroom at the home she was leaving behind—her furniture, wall hangings, and pictures, an identical replica.
As Jesus sought to prepare his disciples for his departure, he told them, “My Father’s house has many rooms . . . I am going there to prepare a place for you” (Jn 14:2).
The carpenter of Nazareth is preparing your place. You will be perfectly at home when he opens the door and shows you your space.
When you get to heaven, you won’t be
a stranger in a strange place.
