Reject every kind of evil.
—1 Thessalonians 5:22
The Bible asks questions. And frequently gives answers to those questions.
Here’s one for you. In Psalm 34:12, the writer asks, “Do any of you want to live a life that is long and prosperous?”
We raise our hand and say, “I do, I do!”
Then he gives the answer that will make it happen: “Then keep your tongue from evil. Turn away from evil and do good. Seek integrity and pursue it.”
Keep a tight rein on thoughts, words, and actions. It’s that simple. And that difficult.
We don’t get through life without stumbles and failures. But it is comforting to know that repair and renewal is always available; the gate of repentance always open.
Don’t try to go it alone.
Yield to God’s control.
