Listen to advice and accept instruction,
and in the end you will be wise.
—Proverbs 19:20
Listening to advice leads to wisdom. And wisdom leads to listening to advice.
Not that all advice is good: “Happy are those who do not follow the advice of the wicked” (Ps 1:1).
Newly enthroned king Rehoboam rejected the advice of his elders, followed the advice of his young cronies, and in the backwash of their flawed counsel, lost ten of the twelve tribes of Israel.
If you want the best advice available, make a beeline for your Bible:
“Teach me your decrees . . . I meditate on your precepts . . . I will not neglect your word . . . Your statutes are my delight; they are my counselors” (Ps 119:12, 15, 16, 24).
“You guide me with your counsel, and afterward you will take me into glory” (Ps 73:24).
Your Bible gives guidance here
and promises glory hereafter.
