Teach us to number our days.
—Psalm 90:12
As of this writing, the average life expectancy in the US is 78.4 years.
Compressing that to a twelve-month calendar, if you are thirty years old, it is April 18; if you are fifty, July 21; if you are sixty-five, October 2; if you are seventy-five, it is November 16.
You are here for a God-given time: “Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be” (Ps 139:16).
You have God-given gifts for a God-given purpose. He “has given each of us special abilities—whatever he wants us to have out of his rich storehouse of gifts” (Eph 4:7).
“Teach us to number our days and recognize how few they are; help us to spend them as we should” (Ps 90:12).
Don’t wish for more time, but for wisdom
to use the time you have more wisely.
