I have put my hope in your word.
—Psalm 119:114
Your favorite meteorologist doesn’t control the weather—only reports it and gives warning when it turns nasty.
Hearing the weatherperson’s advice won’t stop storms, but heeding it may save your life.
Likewise, hearing God’s counsel may not stop the storms that assault you, but heeding it will ensure your survival.
“Everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock . . . the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock” (Mt 7:24–25).
When storms litter your landscape with debris, dash your dreams, crush your hopes, and threaten your faith, you’ll be okay if your foundation is solid.
Weather forecasts are hit-or-miss;
God’s Word is always hit, never miss.
