At the proper time we will reap a
harvest if we do not give up.
—Galatians 6:9
I’ve recently learned of a minister who is resigning and vowing never to preach again. The seeming apathy of his church has drained and embittered him.
Jeremiah would have understood: “For twenty-three years,” he said to his congregation, “I have spoken to you again and again, but you have not listened” (Jer 25:3).
I pray that in coming days, my discouraged brother will learn of responses to the Word he preached that he did not see at the time.
God doesn’t give us the responsibility of harvesting—only of planting and watering (1 Cor 3:6).
And that’s something you are doing every day, by the things you say, the prayers you pray, the encouragement you give, and the support you provide.
You are doing more good than you know.
