Wait for the Lord, be strong and
take heart and wait for the Lord.
—Psalm 27:14
“We are perplexed because we don’t know why things happen as they do, but we don’t give up and quit . . . We get knocked down, but we get up again and keep going” (2 Cor 4:8–9).
Timing is God’s province. Seeing the big picture, he decides when to send answers to our prayers and when to delay them. Trust him in either case: be grateful when he sends them; wait patiently when he doesn’t.
It pleases us when God sends immediate and visible answers. It pleases God when we trust him when he delays and provides no visible answers. It is human to want to see before believing. It is Spirit-led to believe before seeing: “Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed” (Jn 20:29).
Don’t ever give up on God.
