Give thanks to him and praise his name.
—Psalm 100:4
We live in a nation that applauds the indomitable spirit; that nurtures the conviction that no matter where you are, there is no limit to where you can go; that no matter what your circumstances are, you can change them; that no matter what your status is, you can achieve what you can visualize.
But here is a warning, spoken by Abraham Lincoln in 1863: “We have been the recipients of the choicest blessings of heaven . . . We have grown in numbers, wealth, and power as no other nation ever has grown. But we have forgotten God! We have forgotten the gracious hand which preserved us in peace, and multiplied and enriched and strengthened us.”
Don’t let this day pass without considering God’s blessings and thanking him for them.
