You know all of our sins,
even those we do in secret.
—Psalm 90:8
Whenever and wherever you are reading this, there is a scandal in the news.
It may involve a big shot in Washington, a celebrity in Hollywood, a well-known athlete, or a not-so-well-known person in your town.
First, there was denial, then undeniable facts surfaced.
The sinner was not disturbed by the sin, only by the discovery.
But secret sin is just as sinful as out-in-the-open sin. Hiding it doesn’t eliminate it.
Nor is it secret. It may be hidden from humans, but not from God.
The good news is that in Christ, all can be covered and forgiven: “God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God” (2 Cor 5:21).
If you have to hide it, don’t do it.
