I will lie down and sleep in peace.
—Psalm 4:8
Fear of burglars kept Martha from getting a good night’s sleep.
One night she heard a noise, shook her husband awake, and sent him to investigate.
He’d been through the drill many times, but this time he encountered a real live burglar.
Unfazed, he said to the intruder, “Good evening, I’m pleased to see you. Come upstairs and meet my wife—she’s been expecting you for ten years.”
Do you have trouble sleeping? Your body lies down, but your mind keeps sitting up?
Here are a couple of sleeping pills you might want to try: “I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety” (Ps 4:8). “He who watches over you will not slumber” (Ps 121:3).
Victor Hugo advised, “Go to sleep in peace. God is awake.”
Don’t wait until life is over to “R.I.P.”
