God will meet all your needs.
—Philippians 4:19
Joseph, Job, and Jesus defined trust by declaring it, not when things were wonderfully good, but when things were terribly bad:
Joseph: “You intended to harm me but God intended it for Good” (Gn 50:20).
Job: “Though he slay me, yet will I trust him” (Jb 13:15).
Jesus: “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands” (Lk 23:46).
From these three, we learn what trust is:
It is confidence that God is in control, even when it seems that everything is out of control.
It is confidence that God is doing what is right, even when it seems that everything is going wrong.
It is confidence that God is present, even when it seems that he is absent.
When God is all you have,
you have all you need.
