Asa’s heart was fully committed to the Lord.
—2 Chronicles 15:17
When Zerah the Cushite marched against Judah with a vast army, the odds were overwhelming. Nevertheless, Judah’s King Asa knew what to do: call upon God. And that’s what he did: “Lord, there is no one like you to help the powerless against the mighty. Help us” (2 Chr 14:11).
Asa put God between himself and the enemy—and “The Lord struck down the Cushites” (2 Chr 14:12).
Are you facing a struggle that is too big for you? You don’t have to fight this battle alone. Put God between you and your burden.
Alert! Asa’s reign as king of Judah was splendid—except for the last chapter. He ruled forty-one years. All but the last five were unblemished. He stumbled in his old age.
Go the distance.
The last mile is as important as the first.
