The eyes of the Lord are everywhere.
—Proverbs 15:3
“Omniscient” means that God knows all and sees all, all the time. The word doesn’t appear in the Bible—but the truth of it does: “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight” (Heb 4:13).
Alfred Lord Tennyson introduced us to Emmie, a little girl in a children’s hospital. Perplexed that her prayers might not get God’s attention, she asked Annie, “If I call to the Lord, how should he know that it’s me? Such a lot of beds in the ward.”
Annie said, “Emmie, you put out your arms, and you leave ’em outside on the bed—you tell it him plain, ‘It’s the little girl with her arms lying out on the counterpane (bedspread).’”
If you ever wonder if God will know it’s you, just tell it him plain, “God, it’s me, Sarah.”
God knows your name and address
and is doing round-the-clock surveillance.
