The blood of Jesus Christ . . .
cleanses us from all sin.
—1 John 1:7
Martin Luther had a dream in which he saw a hideous fiend writing his sins on the walls of his room: sins of thought, word, and deed; known sins and secret sins.
When the demon was done, Martin said, “You have forgotten just one thing.”
“That being?”
“Take thy pen and write across it all, ‘The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin.’”
At that, the tormentor disappeared, and the walls were clean.
Jesus paid it all, All to Him I owe;
Sin had left a crimson stain,
He washed it white as snow.

When Satan begins scratching your sins on the wall of your conscience, remember these words: “His blood will make our consciences pure” (Heb 9:14).
His blood cleanses you from all sin—
not some, not most, but all.
