Come near to God and
he will come near to you.
—James 4:8
“You will live in constant suspense, filled with dread both night and day . . . In the morning you will say, ‘If only it were evening!’ and in the evening, ‘If only it were morning!’” (Dt 28:66, 67).
Are you living these words—spending sleepless nights tossing and turning and stressful days fretting and fuming?
It’s a common, but needless, frustration.
Your Father understands you like no one else, and he comes as near as you will permit: “Come near to God and he will come near to you.” A hymn of help and hope, a melody of promise and providence.
Trade in the tossing and turning. Give up the fretting and fuming. Sing your song of peace and power, fortitude and faith.
The distance between you and God
isn’t as great as you think.
