Call upon me in the day of trouble.
—Psalm 50:15
When I was a child, if I tried to lift something that was too heavy, my dad would grab hold and help.
If you’re wrestling with a problem that’s too heavy for you, you’re not using all your strength until you ask your Father to help. He can do the heavy lifting. “Ah Sovereign Lord . . . Nothing is too hard for you” (Jer 32:17).
Some of us try to fix our problems ourselves—and don’t reach out to God for help until we’ve gotten in over our head and made a mess of things.
I don’t own a Rolex. But if I did, and it wasn’t working, I wouldn’t sit at the kitchen table with a screwdriver and pliers and try to fix it. I would take it to a specialist.
When you face a problem, who do
you call on for help first? Last?
