I will come in and we will eat together.
—Revelation 3:20
Have you ever sat in the Oval Office and chatted with the president?
Silly question. Heads of state are inaccessible to most people. Even dignitaries and heavyweight politicians have to negotiate security clearance, red tape, and protocol to gain access to Number One.
The thought of conversing with the Creator of the cosmos and having his friendship is electrifying. “I don’t speak to you as my servants,” Jesus said. “I speak to you as my friends” (Jn 15:15).
The Lord is invitingly accessible. In fact, he makes house calls and will come to your place: “I am standing and knocking at your door. If you hear my voice and open the door, I will come in and we will eat together” (Rv 3:20).
He is as near as the knock on your door.
