God’s Timing

Be strong and take heart
and wait for the Lord.
        —Psalm 27:14

Best-selling author Sarah Breathnach said, “When I wrote Simple Abundance it was turned down 30 times before I got a publisher. Looking back, if it had been published earlier it never would have struck a chord, but later people were ready to listen to the message. Isn’t divine timing amazing?”

In our instant-gratification age, we tie ourselves in knots trying to make things happen how we want them to when we want them to.

God asserts his sovereignty in determining the “hows” and “whens.” Much of our planning and energy is spent trying to force something to happen before its time has come.

Don’t get ahead of God, rushing and shoving and insisting on your timetable instead of his. Let him set the pace. Ask him to show you the path forward day-by-day, moment-by-moment.

Let God map the journey—
and the schedule.
